North Star Guidance (Lydia Kirchman) and Maureen Francois Counseling (Maureen Francois and Emily Birney) are providing therapeutic services within the school setting thanks to a grant from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) under the Mental Health Intervention Team (MHIT) program. This grant allows us to offer therapy services directly within the school environment.
Providing services on-site presents a unique opportunity: students receive care in a familiar setting, miss fewer instructional hours, and have access to therapeutic services at no cost. Through the collaboration of Maureen Francois Counseling, North Star Guidance and Central Kansas Mental Health Center (CKMHC), we are able to offer comprehensive mental health support tailored to meet the needs of students.
As practicing Christians and Catholics, Lydia, Maureen, and Emily understand the importance of the teachings of the Catholic Church and how to effectively integrate a Catholic worldview within the therapy setting. We have received training in working effectively and compassionately with children. Our goal is to establish a positive therapeutic relationship and foster growth through a combination of faith-based understanding and evidence-based therapeutic methods.
We will continue to offer therapeutic services to students within the school system upon request and in a timely manner. Families who are interested in accessing these services at St. Mary's should contact Mrs. Ritter or Mrs. Greenmeyer. Families interested in accessing these resources at Sacred Heart should contact Mr. Hamilton or Mr. Woodall.
