Dear Parents and Families,
I am excited to share a unique opportunity for our high school students and their families.
The Diocese of Salina is offering a Student Pilgrimage to Italy from June 1–10, 2027, open to students in the graduating classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029. Students who attend Catholic school, public school, or are homeschooled are all invited. Parents are also welcome to participate.
This experience is more than a trip. It is a pilgrimage designed to help students encounter Jesus Christ in a deeper way through prayer, the sacraments, and the rich history of the Church. Pilgrims will visit Rome, Assisi, Siena, and Florence, celebrating Mass in sacred places and walking where the saints walked.
Our diocesan leadership team will accompany the group, including Superintendent Geoff Andrews, Deacon Bill Meagher, HFE Principal Mandy Meagher, Fr. Luke Thielen, and Fr. Kade Megaffin. Their presence helps ensure that the pilgrimage is both well-organized and deeply rooted in our Catholic faith.
Students who have participated in past experiences such as NCYC, mission trips, and last summer’s pilgrimage to Italy often return with a renewed sense of purpose, a stronger prayer life, and a deeper understanding of the universal Church. Opportunities like this can be truly formative during the high school years.
Early Bird Registration has been extended to June 18, 2026, and space is limited to 33 total travelers in order to foster a strong sense of community and shared prayer.
I encourage you to take time as a family to learn more, talk about the opportunity, and prayerfully consider participating.
